SK 99 SW BLYBOROUGH WILLOUGHTON LANE (North side) 2/3 Blyborough Hall 25.10.51 II* Country house. Early C18, mid C19, C20. Thickly rendered red brick. Slate roofs with stone coped gables with 2 dormer windows with raking heads and plain sashes in south range and 3 similar dormers on west front. 4 stacks to rear. L-plan, with plinth running all round. C18, 6 bay west front with slightly projecting C19 porch to right with plain fanlight and six panel door to left and small round headed plain sash to right. 2 plain sashes to the left with 2 glazing bar sashes beyond. 6 glazing bar sashes above, all with 8 large panes. South end of south range with large C19 tripartite rectangular bay window with plain sash flanked by narrow plain sashes divided by pilasters. Single plain sash above. East front of south range with 2 plain sashes to left with long french windows to right. 3 plain sashes above. South front of east range with 3 plain sashes with 3 plain sashes above. Low, late C19 and C20 offices to rear and C20 extension to east. Fine later C18 hall with mid C18 geometrical staircase with 2 balusters to each tread, one spiralled the other bulbous, with decorated tread ends and moulded handrail. Fine delicately moulded plaster ceiling with tendrils, oak leaves and acorns. Panelled upper walls and ornate cornice with modillion, rosette and egg and dart decoration. Egg and dart decoration on doorcases and window frames. Lobby leading out of hall to east with drawing room beyond with similar ornate cornices and upper bedroom with delicate ornate plaster ceiling.
