Description
DENTON HARSTON ROAD SK 83 SE (north side) Nos 1 and 2 3/64 (Manor Farm Cottages) and dairy II Pair of cottages plus attached dairy. c.1880, possibly by Sir Arthur Blomfield. Coursed ironstone rubble with ashlar quoins, decorative tile hanging to first floor of cottages, plain tiled roofs with wooden bargeboards, conical roof to dairy with octagonal louvred top, surmounted by swept lead roof, supported on free-standing posts. Central ashlar stack to cottages. Octagonal dairy is attached to semi-detached cottages by single storey link block. 2 storey, 2 bay cottages, the first floor corbelled out on carved wooden brackets. 2 canted bay windows with plain casements, to first floor 3 light glazing bar casements to first floor. The dairy roof oversails the stone walls to provide a covered walkway around it. Single 3 light glazing bar casement and wide opening to one side. Sir Arthur Blomfield designed the now demolished Denton Hall in Denton Park for the Welby family. Listing NGR: SK8570232854
