Description

1. 1671 HIGH STREET (North Side) Nos 21 & 21A TF 0307 1/98 22.5.54. II* GV 2. Corner of Ironmonger Street. Mid Cl8. 3 storeys and attics in ashlar, Hipped stone slate roof with one hipped dormer. Small panelled parapet. Moulded stone chimney stack, inscribed '1793 T.E.'. 2 windows with heavy stepped rusticated surrounds with keystones of 5 parts. Double-hung sashes with glazing bars. Band continues cills on top floor. Fluted Roman Doric pilasters flank the frontage from 2nd storey to cornice, which breaks forward over these. Return frontage to Ironmonger Street includes No 7 (qv). Dated 1732 on stack. 2 hipped dormers. 2-1-2 windows with rusticated surrounds and Doric pilasters, as High Street elevation. Nos 14 to 31 (consec) and Public Library form a group. Listing NGR: TF0303607188
