Description
SK 94 SW SYSTON SYSTON PARK 5/123 Dolphin Fountain II Fountain, circa 1820 with later C19 pumphouse; probably designed by Coade; limestone ashlar with lead lined basin, brick pump house to rear with glazed roof. Rusticated square block with cornice surmounted by stepped pedestal to two handled Greek urn. In front is a semi circular basin with fluted sides into which water flows from the mouth of a cast bronze dolphin head set in a framed circular aperture. Above is a rectangular cast bronze plaque depicting a Bacchanalian scene of Satyrs sacrificing a ram on a rustic altar. The fountain is surrounded by cast iron railings with mushroom shaped stops.
