Description
The following building shall be added: SK 84 SE MARSTON MILL LANE 224-/5/10000 Water-powered corn mill at east end of lane - II Water-powered corn mill. c1850. Red brick with pantile roofs. 2 storeys; 2 cills i.e. mill and wheelhouse. Cast-iron casements with glazing bars beneath segmental brick arches; dentilled eaves. Mill entrance in west gable has boarded door with 6 applied panels; 12-pane casement to the gable. South side has 20- pane casement to each floor. Wheelhouse to right with 2 segmentally-arched inlets; lower roof. Boarded door to east gable; incomplete casement above. Interior of wheelhouse: wooden undershot wheel of c.3.5m diameter complete with iron inlet controls. Internal byewash channel. Mill: complete corn milling machinery with cast-iron gearing and wooden stone nuts to 2 pairs of grindstones (a third bottom-stone remains). Crown wheel and drive shafting to sack hoist within roof. Well preserved example of a small rural corn-mill. Listing NGR: SK8950943428
