SH 93 NW LONDONTHORPE & HARROWBY LONDONTHORPE ROAD WITHOUT Londonthorpe 1/43 The Mill (also off Grantham Road, Manthorpe) II Water mill and house; late C18, brick and coursed rubble with pantile roof. House with adjacent 3 unit mill building comprising granary, paddle wheel and gear rooms, with arrangement of mill race and pond still intact. House is 2 storey with garret, 3 bays with stone coped gable and brick gable stacks. Stone plinth, 1st floor brick band, dog tooth dentilatian to eaves. Central doorway now blocked with C20 glazing bar sash and C18 similar sashes in remaining openings all with segmental heads. Mill buildings in 3 gabled bays the central one being segmental. The left bay has double doors to granary under deep segmental arch; to the centre bay are plain double doors to the paddle wheel house with shallow segmental arch and on the right a sliding door to the gearing chamber reached up wooden steps. Each gable has central window at high level, the 2 on the right being casements and that on the left a fixed light. The granary has a timber and leaded cupola, housing a bell. The peddle wheel house sits on a brick bridge. All machinery is retained in situ, in working order, including grinding chamber to rear of house. Listing NGR: SK9242438090
