Description
1. 1671 ST MARY'S STREET (South Side) No 43 (Old Barn) No 44 TF 0206 1/288 22.5.54. TF 0207 1/288 II GV 2. C17 type roof of stone slates. Low 3-storey frontage, painted, stuccoed and tiled with C19 shop front, Much restored. To the left, 2 storeys, half-timbering and rendering on coursed rubble ground floor. One sash window above small shop windows and door. Centre section is rendered, linking with No 44 (qv). Now one occupancy. Interior of barn is now a restaurant and much restored, but good original trussed rafter roof. No 44 contains smaller gable in ashlar dated 1656, 2-storey canted bay of 5 lights with stone mullions. Modern ground floor with 3 windows. Ashlar and coursed rubble, Side elevation, down passage, oversails and has plain wood brackets and an early stone buttress. Nos 42 to 44 (consec) form a group.
