Description

Minor amendment on 23 February 2017. Name and address changed from Debonair Cottage, Post Office and Stone Cottage, Lincoln Road, to Debonnaire Cottage, Old Post Office and Stone Cottage, Middle Street. Opening sentence of Description amended to 'Row of three cottages and former Post Office.' BURTON LINCOLN ROAD Debonair Cottage, Post Office and Stone Cottage SK 97 SE 9/17 G.V. Grade II Row of 3 cottages and Post Office. C18 with major alterations and additions of 1911 in the Vernacular Revival style. Coursed squared limestone rubble with some yellow brick dressings, tile hung gables, interlocking tiled roof with 3 ridge and 1 gable stone stacks. One and a half storeys, irregular 10 bay front, left hand 2 bays advanced, and like the 5th, 7th and 9th bays separately gabled. Planked doors, the left hand are recessed in a semi-circular archway, windows are 2 light glazing bar casements with segmental heads. Upper glazing bar casements are either to eaves or base of tile hung gables. Over the left hand door is a plaque recording the rebuilding of the cottages in 1911 in memory of 8th Lord Monson.
