Description

1. 1671 SCOTGATE (South Side) Nos 32 to 41 (consec) (Also known as Nos 1 to 10 Rock Terrace) TF 0207 3/351 II GV 2. A mid C19 terrace of substantial small houses treated as one composition. The name 'Rock Terrace' appears at the North end in contemporary lettering, but the numbers are now continued in Scotgate. Small coursed rubble with aslilar dressings. Welsh slate roof hipped over end pavilions. Eaves overhanging on brackets. Each house has 2 windows in plain reveals. The 2 centre and 2 end houses break forward slightly with pilasters at corners. 2 storeys and basement, except for centre block, which has an attic storey set back from the eaves level,consisting of 2 adjoining pediments each over a small round-headed window, glazing bars to No 4. Stone balcony over doors of Nos 5 and 6. Each ground floor window has a cast iron balcony of fair design. 6-panel doors in round-arched moulded surrounds with plain semi-circular fanlights. Stone grouned stacks. Centre block windows in triple arcade on 1st floor. Nos 29 to 41 (consec) form a group. Also forms a group with Rock House and the Clock House, castarton Road Listing NGR: TF0247607237
