Description
TF 00 NE UFFINGTON MAIN STREET (south side) 9/253 Garden Archway to demolished Uffington House G.V. II Garden archway. c.1845. Ashlar. Semi-circular headed archway with imposts and keyblock set in ashlar wall with cornice and flanking pilaster. Behind the arch a further wall containing a dome semi-circular headed recess containing a damaged bust with the Bertie cypher beneath. The flanking pilasters support a moulded cornice. The archway was formerly attached to the south east corner of the now demolished Uffington House. Source: Country Life: December 31st 1904. Listing NGR: TF0624007538
