Description
WESTGATE 1. 1146 (East Side) 8.5.50 No. 1 SK 9135 NW 8/128 - Nos. 2, 3 and 3A. II GV 2. Late C18, 2-storey, red brick, slate roof; 4 windows, with flush frames and glazing bars; No, 1 has shop front with fluted Doric pilasters supporting entablature, bow window with glazing bars; door at side of window with glazed upper part and fanlight; modern shop fronts to Nos. 2 and 3. No, 3a has a Victorian doorway. Nos. 3a and 3 have iron Victorian window boxes. The sign of No. 2, and iron dustpan, photograph in N.M.R is of interest since it is about 160 years old and has hung outside at least two other shops ("Country Life" 24.3.66). Passage from No. 3 leads to the stable yard of the 'George Hotel'. Westgate Hall and Nos. I to l3 (consec) form a group. Listing NGR: SK9131035870
