WHAPLODE SPALDING GATE TF 32 SW (south-west side) 9/142 The Elloe Stone 30.6.66 II Grave marker. c.950-11OO, 1911. Ragstone. Unpierced damaged wheel head with weathered interlace decoration. Tapering shaft with rolled corners and weathered interlace supported on rectangular plinth similarly decorated and weathered. C20 base inscribed: 'The Elloe Stone. Erected in Anglo Saxon times to indicate the place of meeting of the Hundred of Elloe courts. Presented to the Moulton Parish Council by F. Dring Esq. and mounted here by public inscription of June 22nd 1911 the day of the Coronation of King George'. Listing NGR: TF3155624826
