Description
TIMBERLAND MAIN ROAD: THORPE TILNEY TF 15 NW B1189 (west side) 6/60 Orangery and attached garden wall at Thorpe 23.11.51 Tilney Hall GV II Orangery and attached garden. c1740. Red brick with ashlar dressings. Pantile hipped roof. Single storey. 3 bay. Central round headed doorway, pith glazed double doors and fanlight, ashlar impost blocks continue as lintels over side windows. These large flanking side windows, are glazing bar sashes with 24 panes each. Above a brick parapet, with a large round arched top, ashlar coped with a central acorn finial and end ball finials. The rear wall is continued to north and south as a 2 metre high garden wall, topeed with pantiles, it extends all the way round the present garden 110 metres long and 60 metres wide, with central gate- ways on the north, west and south sides.
