Description

The following building shall be added: HECKINGTON TF 1444 1314- /10/10004 Heckington Hall II Small country house. Late 1860's. For William Little. Biscuit terracotta facing with ashlar dressings. Hipped slate roof with lead dressings and flat roof top. 3 moulded ashlar stacks and a further side stack to rear. Carolean revival style. Double pile plan: 5x5 bays. 2 storeys and attic. 5-window range of cross-windows in moulded stone surrounds on projecting brackets. Similar windows to ground floor. Central half-glazed door up small fight of swept steps with ashlar surround of pilasters supporting an entablature hood. Plinth, stringcourse, band and quoins. Single small 2-light dormer to attic. Side elevations are similar, the right hand side having a projecting rectangular stone bay and 2 attic dormers, the left a partially blocked former side doorway and 2 attic dormers. To rear a single-storey stock brick office range. INTERIOR. Dogleg staircase with turned balusters and moulded handrails, and further stair with wreathed handrail up to attic. 6-panel doors. Ground floor front room has marble fireplace with cast-iron grate and mirrored overrnantel together with similar decorative over-doors. Decorative plaster cornices here and elsewhere and further marble fireplaces. A good quality little altered house in an unusual style.
