Description

TF 09 NE SOUTH KELSEY MOORTOWN 5/53 Moor town House G.V. II Small country house; 1816; red brick and stucco, slate hipped roof with 4 brick stacks. 2 storey 5 bay front with stone faced plinth, first floor brick band and deeply overhanging eaves. Central 6 panelled door up 2 steps, with overlight having curved tracery, flanked by Doric columns supporting full entablature. To either side two glazing bar sashes under flat stucco heads. 1st floor has 5 glazing bar sashes. The side front is in pale grey lined stucco and is in 2 curved bays both with a single glazing bar sash to each floor. The interior has fine reeded cornices with oak and acorn panels and decorative ceiling roundels. There is an elliptical arch from hall to stairs which are curved and swept round with decorative cast iron balusters and a carved wooden string. The stair is lit by a semi-circular headed window. The park was landscaped by Sir Joseph Paxton. Listing NGR: TF0648999909
