Description
SK 94 NW CAYTHORPE CHURCH LANE (north side) 3/39 Ice House to Caythorpe Hall II Ice House, circa 1823. Coursed and banded brick and ironstone, domed brick roof. Octagonal plan. Above ground, the superstructure is octagonal externally and earth covered. Entrance is on the east side and consists of an outer doorway with a fallen segmental headed arch with stout jambs. The middle doorway also segmental headed with oak frame. The innermost doorway has a flat head and an oak frame. The ice chamber itself is egg shaped, and is countersunk to approximately half its depth. Listing NGR: SK9409048775
