LINCOLN SK97SE WRAGBY ROAD 1941-1/2/406 (North West side) 02/10/69 Lincoln Christ Hospital School and attached headmaster's house II School and attached headmaster's house. 1905. By Leonard Stokes. Buff brick with stone dressings and slate roofs with 8 prominent coped stacks on the front parapet. Vernacular Jacobean Revival style. EXTERIOR: chamfered plinth and coped parapet. Windows are mainly cross casements. Main block, 2 storeys, 13 bays, has a full width round headed arcade forming a brick vaulted cloister. Above, a projecting centrepiece, with a central window with a crest over it, flanked by single shallow canted bay windows. Above, a moulded segmental pediment with a crest. On either side, 3 triple cross casements. Above again, a square wooden bell turret with clock and open bell stage with volutes, topped with a concave-sided spire. To the left, a 3 bay wing with a canted bay window. To the right, a large wing with a single storey flat roofed office in the return angle. Attached headmaster's house, red and buff brick, has modillion eaves and 3 ridge stacks. 2 storeys plus attics, 5 bays. Glazing bar sashes throughout. Central bay window flanked by single 2 storey bay windows, all canted. Beyond, to right, a moulded doorcase with keystone with a round headed opening and half-glazed door, and a sash. Beyond, to left, 2 sashes. Above, a central triple sash flanked by single sashes, and beyond, 2 sashes on either side. Above again, 9 flat roofed dormers.
