LINCOLN SK97SE ROMAN WHARF 1941-1/2/58 (West side) 01/08/79 Fosse House (Formerly Listed as: CARHOLME ROAD (South side) Former Jeckyll and Glazier warehouse and attached cottages) II Warehouse and adjoining cottages, now offices. 1842-1851, converted 1989-1990, with additions and alterations. Red brick with gault brick dressings and gabled slate roofs. Former warehouse, to left, 3 storeys; 5 window range. Renewed segment arched windows, mainly top hung casements on the ground floor and 3-light sliding sashes above, all with glazing bars. The upper floors are divided into segment arched recessed bays by gault brick pilasters on a rebated band. Central single pane window with a wooden lintel, and above it, a similar segment arched window, each replacing loft doors. On either side, 2 sashes, those to the second floor smaller. Ground floor has a pair of segment arched doors flanked by 2 casements. Left gable has a segment arched glazed opening on each floor, the ground floor one partly panelled. Former cottages, to right, 2 storeys, 2 window range of renewed plain sashes, those to the ground floor with gault brick flat arches. Beyond, gault brick doorcases with renewed blue brick plinths and dentilled cornices. Renewed doors. Each block has at the rear a central gabled stair turret flanked by lean-to projections, all c1990. INTERIOR: former warehouse has original floors and renewed roof structure. Former cottages have part of the original roof structure. Internal divisions removed. Listing NGR: SK9646971565
