LINCOLN SK9771SW HIGH STREET 1941-1/11/148 (West side) 09/03/73 Nos.190 AND 191 GV II Shop with offices and flat above. 1896-97, altered mid C20 and restored in original form 1992. By William Watkins of Lincoln for Peacock & Willson's Bank. Brick with terracotta front made by Doulton of Lambeth, and slate roof with 2 side wall stacks with cornices. Gothic/Renaissance Revival style. EXTERIOR: enriched first floor and eaves cornices, coped central and side gables, ramped coped parapet, octagonal pilasters, 4 of them topped with cupolas. Mullioned and transomed windows, those in the central bays with ogee heads, those in the flanking bays with rounded heads. 3 storeys plus attics, 4 bays. Ground floor, divided by octagonal pilasters, has 2 elliptical arched openings, the left one containing glazed double doors and fanlight, flanked by glazed flat headed openings with top lights. Above, a central octagonal pilaster, flanked by single 2-light windows, and beyond, single canted oriel windows, 3 lights, with parapets. Above again, a central niche with canopy, flanked by single 3-light windows and beyond, single cross casements. Above again, in the gable peak, a central double niche with the date 1896 worked in the pierced crest. On either side, a round headed window, the whole group under a common cornice. Elaborate gable finial. INTERIOR not inspected.
