Description
TF 47 SE WILLOUGHBY WITH CHAPEL LANE SLOOTHBY (east side) 1/61 Covells Farm House II House. Originally late C16, largely rebuilt in early C18, altered early C19 and C20. Red brick in Flemish bond, stucco dressings, pantile roof with late C16 axial brick stack with bands. Lobby entry plan. 2 storey. irregular 3 bay front having short plinth and first floor band. Central glazed door with margin overlight flanked by single glazing bar sashes. Openings have sgemental heads and splayed stucco lintels. To first floor a central narrow C20 window is flanked by single glazing bar sashes with segmental heads. It is thought that John Smith, the founder of the State of Virginia, was born here in 1580.
