Description
WYBERTON TF 34 SW SLIPPERY GOWT LANE 1513/11/10007 (South,off) 14-JUL-00 Slippery Gowt Sluice II Drainage sluice. 1733 built for the Court of Sewers. Red brick with ashlar dressings. Brick round arched tunnel 38 foot long 6 foot high and 3 foot 6 inches wide. Main front has round arched tunnel entrance with ashlar keystone inscribed TB 1733, and splayed brick walls. Other entrance has similar round arched entrance with embanked brick side walls with ashlar quoins and coping. This sliuce was built as one of two sluices which served as outfalls for the Wyberton Towns Drain. It was built at a cost of £297 11s. Listing NGR: TF3412141387
