Description

TF 34 SE BUTTERWICK SCHOOL LANE (east side) 12/20 Pinchbeck House 26.1.67 G.V. II Former schoolhouse, now house. 1665, altered late C18 and C20. Colourwashed brick, slate roof. T-plan. 2 storey plus garret, 3 bay front with plinth, first floor and eaves bands, the former band is raised over the door in Fen Artisan Mannerist style. Central 6 panel door in pedimented surround with narrow pilasters, flanked by single large C20 3 light windows, with segmental brick heads. To first floor are 2 similar windows flanking a central glazing bar light. The right hand gable has the remains of paired windows to ground floor with segmental heads and keyblocks, all in brick, and a decorative band. To first floor a further blocked window. In the garret a 2 light sliding sash with rusticated brick surround. The rear range also has remnant Fen Artisan Mannerist detailing. Part of the school foundation of 1665 by Anthony Pinchbeck.
