Description

In the entry for FOLKINGHAM WEST STREET (south side) The Vicarage the address shall be amended to read WEST STREET (south side) The Rectory FOLKINGHAM WEST STREET TF 0633-0733 (south side) 2/104 The Vicarage G.V. II Vicarage. c.1800. Coursed limestone rubble, limestone ashlar. Hipped slate roof with central brick ridge stack. 3 storey, 3 bay north front with plinth and giant order plain pilasters at each corner running full height of house. Central doorway with semi-circular head, pilastered doorcase with keystone, traceried fanlight and panelled door. Doorway flanked by single glazing bar sashes, with 3 glazing bar sashes above and 3 smaller glazing bar sashes above those; all with ashlar wedge lintels with large, emphatic rusticated keystones. Low, 2 storey projecting rectangular ranges removed from east and west return walls. 3 flight return staircase with slender bannisters, carved tread ends and moulded handrail curling round newel in hall. First floor landing with 4 archways with semi-circular heads, moulded surrounds and flower head motifs. Simply moulded plaster ceiling in drawing room with Greek key pattern and foliate motifs. 2 small bedroom later C19 cast iron fireplaces, one with squirrel motif. Listing NGR: TF0708233604
