TF 1209-1309 MARKET DEEPING STAMFORD ROAD (north side) 13/176 Nos.l and 3 30.10.68 G.V. II House and service block, now 2 properties. Late C17, refronted 1742, 1800, altered C20. Ashlar, coursed and banded limestone rubble. Collyweston slate roofs with stone coped gables, 4 ashlar gable stacks with cornices and red brick gable stack to service range. Parallel ranges plan. 3 storey, 5 bay ashlar front (No.1) with moulded plinth, plain cill bands to each floor, cyma moulded cornice and plain parapet, rusticated quoins. Central 6 panel door, flanked by pairs of glazing bar sashes. To first floor are 5 similar windows. All have moulded cambered stone architraves. To second floor are 5 small square glazing bar sashes, also with moulded architraves. To left of front a cast lead rainwater head has initials HB and date 1800. To right a 2 storey irregular 3 bay service block in coursed and banded limestone rubble (No.3), has a C20 half glazed door with plain overlight, ashlar lintel with keystone. To right a fixed light in the blocking of a door and a C20 3 light casement. To first floor a single glazing bar sash. A brick in the left hand rear chimney stack is inscribed 'restored 1742'. Two fireplaces have late C17 chamfered bressumers and the service block has a roll moulded girder of a similar date. There is mid C18 panelling downstairs, 2 walls and reset bits. 2 late C18 fireplaces, limestone with moulded lintels, keyblocks and rounded corners. Full height stair has turned spindle balusters, a moulded handrail, carved string and panelled sides. On the first floor is a semi-circular arched opening with moulded wooden surround and fluted pilaster reveals opening onto the former dressing room of the principal bedroom. This bedroom has full height mid C18 raised and fielded panelling with apparently contemporary Gothic arched recesses to either side of the fireplace. The pegged oak clasped purlin roof is late C17.
