Description

The archive on a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording that was undertaken at St Stephen's Church, Careby. The work was undertaken prior to the installation of a new drainage associated with a new toilet installation. The work revealed two undated wall which are thought to comprise an earlier phase of the church, and a well. Two reused medieval grave slab were also discovered within the walls. A single sherd of glazed tile was uncovered, dating to the late 14th to 16th century.
