Abstract/Summary
Report on a programme of systematic fieldwalking conducted on land at the Food Enterprise Zone, Distillery Farm, Holbeach, to inform proposed development on the site. A single sherd of Late Saxon Thetford ware pottery and a small scatter of Medieval pottery sherds, mostly Bourne ware, were recovered. These likely represent manuring scatters. A large number of post-Medieval (17th-19th century) clay pipe fragments were also identified across the site, with a 'halo' of finds close to Distillery farm and a small concentration at the western and northern boundaries of the site. This is likely to be a reflection of the movement patterns of farm workers during the post-Medieval period.
