Abstract/Summary

Report on an archaeological excavation comprising a single T-shape trial trench excavated on land at the former Salvation Army Hall on East Street, Stamford, prior to the construction of a residential development. Two ditches of probable post-Medieval date were encountered. A single residual sherd of Late Saxon pottery was recovered from the fill of the larger ditch. This larger southern ditch had been truncated by known 20th century levelling of the site. No other archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered.
