Title Archaeological Evaluation on Land at London Road, Quarrington, Sleaford
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2013

Abstract/Summary

Archive for a programme of trial trenching comprising 28 trial trenches excavated on land at Quarrington, Sleaford, to inform proposed development on the site. The trenching confirmed the presence of a rectilinear ditch enclosure, tentatively dated to the early 1st century AD, and a possible sub-enclosure. Evidence of the circular anomaly thought to represent a ring ditch within the enclosure was not encountered, however. Ditches and pits of Roman date were identified immediately to the north of this feature. Undated ditches, postholes and furrows were also encountered at the eastern edge of the site.
