Abstract/Summary

Report on a historic building survey undertaken prior to the demolition of the farmhouse at Brookhouse Farm, Church Lane, Little London, Tetford. The farmhouse was a two storey rendered and painted brick building, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. The front elevation was 3 bays, with two large windows flanking a doorway with porch, and three windows on the first floor. It had a projecting chimney on the east gable elevation, and an integral chimney on the west gable elevation. Beneath the main slate roof, the original timber and thatch roof survived. A catslide extension to the rear may have been a later addition, as the slate roof appears original. An area of infill, comprising a conservatory and W/C, linked the farmhouse to the range of outbuildings to the east. The conservatory was a modern addition, but the brickwork in the W/C appears original. The interior of the farmhouse originally comrpised a kitchen, parlour , and two reception roomsg on the ground floor, with a cellar beneath, and a central corridor and stairway leading to the first floor. This comprised four bedrooms, one with a modern en suite addition, and a modern bathroom.
