Abstract/Summary
Report for a magnetometry survey was conducted on land north of Dunston Fen Lane, in Nocton parish, for a proposed river improvement scheme. Dunston Beck flows into the Car Dyke, which is a Roman canal or drain and a Scheduled Monument. The survey area is adjacent to Nocton Wood, an ancient woodland. Traces of medieval ridge and furrows and post-medieval and modern land drains were identified in the survey. The northeast-southwest orientated ridge and furrow in the eastern half of the site were identified due to magnetic anomalies. Lidar evidence suggests that the ridge and furrow continues to the west of the site.
