Description

Archive for the programme of archaeological monitoring and recording conducted during groundworks for the construction of a new dormer bungalow with an integral garage on Plot 1, land adjacent to Sandilands, Fen Road, East Kirkby in October 2019 and October 2020. Three pits were identified in the area of the foundation trenches of the building which did not contain any finds, but were thought to be of medieval or post-medieval date. To the north was a former livestock pond which is likely to date to the post-medieval period. An east-west aligned ditch was identified in the groundworks for a tank to the east, which also did not contain any finds, but like the pits, is thought to be of medieval or post-medieval origin. No further archaeological features were identified.
