Abstract/Summary
Book discussing how the landscape has been transformed by successive perods of human activity from prehistory to the present day. The first part of the book goes into detail about the charateristic features of the main landscape typesm including fenland, downland, woodland, marshland, and moorland. The second half of the book has five cameo features, including the Land Settlement Association experimental villages set up during the Great Depression, and surveys of other settlements.
