Report on the analysis of samples taken from several large blocks of slag, recovered from the edge of a field, during a site visit to land to the east of Folly Lane, Norton Disney. The analysis strongly indicated that the blocks were pit-type iron smelting slags of probable mid Iron Age date, suggesting that the smelting of significant quantities of iron was being conducted somewhere in this vicinity at that time.
