Abstract/Summary
Lincolnshire Church Notes were compiled by William John Monson, afterwards the sixth London Monson and were started in 1828 during his honeymoon following his marriage to Eliza, daughter of Edmund Larkin. The first Church Notes were made with a view to obtaining material for his Family History., but by the time he had finished these early visitations he realised what vast sources of information Lincolnshire churches could supply for the compilation of a County History. The Church Notes contain details of monumental inscriptions, to which particulars of coats of arms and extracts from parish registers are added. The notes deal with 227 parishes, the distribution of which is shown on the map accompanying the volume.
