Full Description

A square, concrete, coastal observation post of the Second World War Coastal Crust. The post is believed to have provided observations for a coastal defence battery, thought to have been formerly located in this vicinity and comprised of a single 4" gun. {1}{2}{3} The observation post was included in a survey of Second World War remains, recorded in July 2012 prior to works to renew the coastal flood defences between Tetney and Saltfleet. The post was entered by a tunnel from the south-west. The tunnel also gave access to a Stanton shelter, buried under the sea bank, to the north-west of the tunnel entrance. More of the structures were exposed and recorded in October 2012, during the subsequent groundworks for the renewal of the flood defences. The works showed that the Stanton shelter also had a second entrance, that allowed access from the north-west, directly from outside the complex. {4}{5}
