Full Description

The remains of a ruinous concrete structure was recorded in this location, in 2008. It may be the remains of a former Second World War pillbox. {1} Photographs of the remains were taken in June 2012, during site visits conducted for the Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. The remains comprise two sections of concrete pillbox roof, each measuring c.0.75m by 0.75m across. No traces of any former walls could be discerned, however, and the exact original location of the structure is uncertain. The rusticated appearance of the remains matches that of known First World War structures in this area, and it was thought likely that this structure had an earlier origin than previously identified. {2}
