Full Description

Although not included in the actual survey of nonconformist chapels in South Kesteven, several photographs were taken of the former reading room, on the corner of Church Street and Rectory Lane, Barrowby. The building is of yellow brick with a gabled slate roof. The building features a small clock tower to the south gable. The building has a sign over the front door, stating it was the 'Barrowby Reading Room'. The building is not depicted on the 1st edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey map, but does appear on the 1905 Ordnance Survey County Series map, suggesting it was built in the late 19th century. The building is labelled as a GP on the 1905 map, however, suggesting its use as a reading room was short-lived. {1}{2}{3}
