Full Description

What became North Somercotes' first Primitive Methodist chapel was originally built in 1821, as a private chapel, and rented by the Primitive Methodists. It measured 34 feet by 27 feet and had seating for 220. In 1837, the Primitive Methodists purchased the building for £99. It was closed in 1865 when a replacement chapel was opened on Reform Street (see PRN 48857). Thereafter it was used as a Sunday school, probably until 1962, when the Reform Street chapel was closed. The exact location of this building within the settlement is unknown. {1}{2}{3}
