Full Description

This record was formerly given the PRN 56579 in error. Panton Cottage was the subject of an historic building survey, undertaken in January 2014, prior to proposed alterations and extensions. The building is named as Lodge Cottage by the surveyors, and was likely constructed in the mid to later 19th century, to house estate workers for the former Panton Hall. The building is single-storey, with a u-shaped plan, and is built of gault brick laid in Flemish bond with fine pointing. The roof is of double-pitched slate, though is likely the result of 20th century repairs. Three large, red brick chimneys are extant, though are probably also later additions. The building has been subjected to a number of 19th and 20th century alterations, notably the addition of a lobby, toilet and conservatory, and little evidence of the original internal detailing is now visible. {1}{2}
