An early 19th century brick works at Thoresby Bridge. When J. S. Padley surveyed the route of the Louth Navigation in 1828 the map he produced showed a brick kiln at Thoresby Bridge beside the canal on land owned by Thomas Parker. {1} Henry Parker (the son of Thomas Parker) is recorded at Thoresby Bridge in White's 1842 Directory in which he is described as a corn and coal merchant and a brick and tile merchant. There is also a brick maker recorded in White's 1856 Directory in Thoresby Bridge. {2}{3} The clay pit for the brick works is visible on the 1824 OS one inch to the mile map to the north of the hamlet. This pit is also visible on the 1888 OS map where it is marked as a fishpond and there is a further large pond or lake to the south of the hamlet across Fen Lane in North Thoresby Parish. This second lake is also likely to have been a clay pit for the brick works. {4}{5} The lakes are still present and are now fishing lakes. {6}
