Full Description

Mablethorpe Wesleyan Methodist Society opened in 1868, presumably superseeding the Society's previous chapel which was built in Church Road in 1836. In 1881 the chapel was enlarged, with the seating increased to 400, and a schoolroom was added in 1888. Further alteration occurred in 1907, with the installation of a Cousans organ, and in 1913-14, when further enlargements were made. The chapel closed in 1965 and was used as a painter's workshop and a warehouse, before being converted into flats. The building is of red brick with a gabled roof. The dressings are of stone, including pinnacles, a finial, hood mouldings and string courses. The windows to the sides have red and yellow brick pointed arches. Some alterations have been made, including the addition of rooflights and large windows to the sides. {1}{2}{3}
