Full Description
An area of likely medieval ridge and furrow was identified during analysis of aerial photographs in 2010. It was visible as earthworks, partly overlying the Roman fort and outwork near Newton Cliff. {1}
A portion of the ridge and furrow was mapped by a contour survey, undertaken in May 2012, to inform the proposed construction of a new water treatment works, to the south-west of Newton on Trent. The survey mapped a series of clearly defined linear earthworks, on a north to south alignment. {2}{3}
