Full Description
A watching brief was conducted during the groundworks phase of construction for a new housing development at Church Lane, Holton le Clay. 21 sherds of redeposited Roman pottery were recovered from the fills of various medieval features, indicating that earlier activity on the site was truncated by the medieval and later activity. The range of Roman pottery present suggests activity on the site from some time in the mid to late 2nd century until at least the middle 3rd century AD. {1}{2}
