Full Description

A brick-built, slate roofed structure, constructed in 1869 for a William Spencer. It was initally used as housing, notably for a series of stationmasters for the Great Northern Railway, who were residents until the mid 1930s. The building continued in use as private housing until 1975, when it was converted to a private club. It was the subject of a photographic building survey in July 2013, prior to its proposed demolition and redevelopment of the site. It was recorded that although the building formed an important part of the local streetscape, the original construction was poorly preserved, having lost much of its primary functions and fittings. {1}{2}
