Full Description
The United Steel Company began work on the Easton Mine in 1958. It closed in 1967. The owners considered this to be an experimental mine and expected it to produce up to one million tons of ironstone a year. However, it never lived up to its expectations and was closed when the UK ironstone industry contracted. {1}
