Full Description

Historic Building Recording of 347 to 349 High Street and 1 to 9 Tentercroft Street (see PRN 71161) was undertaken in February 2010. It was determined that 349 High Street was the oldest of these buildings and may date from before 1842 (according to Padley's Map). 347 and 348 were built a short time after 349 and all three can be seen on a map dating from 1868. The buildings were probably built as shops with accomodation over them. The phase break in the north and south elevations suggest that they were constructed in increment stages. Extensions were added to 347, 348 and 349 and the buildings were heavily modified in the 20th century. {1}
