Full Description

During archaeological excavation on land east of Annpasture Lane in July 2008, three early Saxon, wattle-lined wells were found. One contained animal bone, a late Saxon pottery sherd and two early Saxon sherd. Another contained an early Saxon sherd, a possibly Anglo-Saxon tang and black iron knife and an oak disc, which was probably the base of a bucket. A narrow boundary ditch with a residual sherd of 3rd to 4th century Roman pottery, an undated pit and and undated post hole were also found. {1}{2}
