Full Description
A Roman gold Aureus coin of emperor Trajan was found in December 2001, by a metal detectorist searching a field to the south of Lea. The coin is stamped on the obverse with an image of a laureate head facing right, with the inscription 'IMP CAES NERVA TRAIAN AUG GERM'. It is stamped on the reverse with an image of Hercules standing, with the inscription 'PM TR P COS IIII PP'. Slides of the coin are reportedly held at Retford Museum. {1}
