Full Description

A north-east to south-west aligned ditch was recorded during the archaeological monitoring of the excavation of geotechnical trial pits on land at Holbeach Road, Spalding. The fill of the ditch contained sherds of 3rd to 4th century Roman pottery and fragments of burnt clay, thought to be briquetage, and indicating that saltmaking possibly occurred nearby. {1}{2}
