Full Description

A watching brief was undertaken by Allen Archaeological Associates in November 2011 during the groundworks for an extension of 5 Auden Close, Lincoln. A wall which was associated with a pit which contained a fragment of 2nd to 3rd century glass, a further pit which contained late 2nd to early 3rd century pottery and a fragment of Roman brick and two pits which contained residual Roman pottery and residual medieval to post medieval roof tile was found. A bronze bracelet with alternating external wavy-notch decoration probably for a child or juvenile was also found. It has Roman parallels but it was found in a medieval context [see finds record FLI57228 that is associated with the Hospital of St Giles PRN71087].{1}{2}
